Overview:
The Inhalation Therapist plays a crucial role in delivering specialized inhalation therapy techniques. This professional evaluates the cardiorespiratory health of patients for both diagnostic and therapeutic objectives, assists in anesthesia procedures, and addresses conditions impacting the respiratory system. Responsibilities include managing the necessary equipment for these tasks, ensuring its distribution, maintenance, and optimal performance. Additionally, the inhalation therapist may engage in educating patients on inhalation methods.
- Advocate for therapeutic services and initiatives aimed at rehabilitation and prevention to support the maintenance or recovery of patient autonomy.
- Keep comprehensive records and compile statistical information.
- Assess and prioritize requests for inhalation therapy.
- Organize home visit schedules, communicate changes to patients, and manage service distribution effectively.
- Evaluate patient needs, particularly concerning respiratory health.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and refer patients to internal, external, or community resources as needed.
- Instruct patients and their families on inhalation techniques for effective self-management.
Qualifications:
Educational Requirements:
- College diploma in inhalation therapy and anesthesia or equivalent experience with a college certificate in inhalation therapy and anesthesia.
- Possession of a valid professional license from the Quebec Professional Order of Inhalotherapists.
Essential Skills:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in the role of an inhalation therapist.
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
- Basic proficiency in English.
- Experience in pneumology and home care is considered an asset.
