We are currently seeking a temporary full-time Manager of Strategic Initiatives within the Transportation & Development Services Division. This role will report directly to the Senior Manager of Transportation and Development Services and will be tasked with effectively steering and efficiently executing strategic, high-profile, cross-departmental projects. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in planning and implementing initiatives that align with the Department's objectives and the overarching strategic vision of the organization. Proven leadership skills are essential for guiding large-scale municipal projects to successful completion.
Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, with eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (APEGBC), or hold a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or demonstrate proficiency to pursue such certification. A minimum of ten years of experience in project and operational management, including managing diverse and complex technical projects and teams, is required. A valid BC Class 5 Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle that meets transportation policy requirements are also necessary. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Skills and Experience:
Candidates must demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience in civil and municipal infrastructure design and construction principles, particularly in retrofit scenarios. The ability to successfully lead teams in delivering multiple projects concurrently while fostering strong partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders is essential. Additionally, candidates should exhibit expertise in applying engineering best practices when reviewing reports and plans prepared by Professional Engineers to ensure successful project outcomes. Strong leadership and project management capabilities are critical for this role.
