Exciting Opportunity in Land Development

Egis Canada, a leading consulting engineering firm, is seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our Land Development team in Ontario. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality engineering designs and services for various land development projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop engineering plans for land development projects, with a focus on lot/site grading and drainage and stormwater management.
  • Author Engineers Reports under the Drainage Act and complete counsel presentations with stakeholders and landowners.
  • Interact with township and city staff, identify deficiencies, and provide problem-solving maintenance requirements.
  • Prepare assessment schedules for municipal drains and provide leadership within the Land Owner Appeals, Tribunal, and Referee process under the Drainage Act.
  • Represent Egis Canada at public information sessions and deliver presentations.
  • Maintain positive client relationships with internal and external stakeholders and develop relationships with industry professionals, consultants, and other business leaders.
Requirements:
  • University degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.
  • Experience as a Drainage Engineer, with a sound understanding of the Drainage Act.
  • 5+ years of experience on land development projects, specifically with experience under the Drainage Act.
  • Background in sub-division or experience working in engineering designs of sub-divisions is an asset.
  • Authored an Engineers Report under the Drainage Act within the last 5 years.
  • Certified Drainage Superintendent is an asset.
  • Design skills with good working knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil3D.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (French would also be an asset).
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, time management, and ability to think creatively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team.
  • Experienced with project management and has worked in, or understands the consulting engineering environment.
  • Working knowledge of modelling software is an asset (PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, WaterCAD, SewerCAD, EPANET, etc.).
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
