Position Overview

As a pivotal member of our team, the Vision Care Coordinator (VCC) is responsible for ensuring that every patient receives exceptional personal attention and state-of-the-art medical care. The VCC will manage patient histories, conduct diagnostic tests, and capture images using advanced optometric technology. They will facilitate patient flow from reception to examination rooms and eyewear galleries, collaborating seamlessly with colleagues. This role offers an excellent opportunity to launch and develop a career in healthcare, with comprehensive on-the-job training in all aspects of patient support.

The ideal candidate for the VCC position is enthusiastic about learning all dimensions of optometric patient care and vision health. VCCs will utilize technology in all aspects of their duties, including Electronic Medical Records (EMR). A willingness to learn new technologies is crucial, as is a commitment to continuously enhance the office's use of EMR for optimal patient care.

Job Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed eye drops, ointments, and medications as directed by the optometrist.
  • Prepare examination rooms, ensuring sterilization and calibration of instruments.
  • Collect and document patients' preliminary case histories.
  • Conduct diagnostic testing as instructed by the optometrist.
  • Utilize electronic medical records to assist the doctor during examinations as a medical note-taker.
  • Support contact lens training, manage diagnostic lens orders, and follow up with patients.
  • Learn all aspects of patient reception and optical styling to provide backup support to the team when needed.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by the leadership team.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in internet usage and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong keyboarding skills, with a minimum of 50 words per minute.
  • Excellent spelling and clear communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with optometry or medical office protocols is an asset but not required.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated with a professional approach to work.

Additional Information

Compensation

Salary range: $35,800 to $48,530 per year.
