About the Role

AVI Health and Community Services is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Experiential Community Crisis Responder to join our team. As a key member of our Peer Assisted Care Team (PACT), you will play a vital role in providing acute mobile crisis support and de-escalation services to individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use related crises.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to mental health and substance use related crises in a timely and effective manner
  • Utilize a trauma-informed approach to care, prioritizing the needs and agency of the service user
  • Develop comprehensive safety plans and establish post-crisis follow-up care
  • Collaborate with community stakeholders, including police, ambulance, fire, and healthcare providers
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience in mental health services, de-escalation, and crisis response
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing lived/living expertise in service delivery and advocacy
  • Strong understanding of colonialism and its impact on Indigenous Peoples
  • Crisis Intervention Skills, including situational awareness, mental health assessments, and suicide intervention
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing situations

  • Competitive hourly rate of $33.99, with stepped increases based on seniority
  • Casual shifts falling between Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, with mandatory training schedule in October
