Job Summary

The Government of Saskatchewan is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Deputy Sheriff to provide security services within the Courts of Saskatchewan. As a Deputy Sheriff, you will play a critical role in ensuring a safe and secure environment for all users of court facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide secure prisoner transport services across the province
  • Operate detention areas within court facilities and conduct perimeter screening in accordance with the Court Security Act, 2007
  • Maintain good order in all areas of court facilities and assess and manage threats to courts and court participants
  • Transport persons to and from court locations across the province, ensuring accurate documentation and confidentiality
  • Operate under the Criminal Code of Canada, the Court Officials Act, 2012, and the Court Security Act, 2007, as a Peace Officer and Special Constable

Requirements

  • Valid certificate in Standard First Aid/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Level C
  • Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 driver's license
  • Safe and responsible driving record, as demonstrated by a driver's abstract obtained within the previous three months
  • Successful completion of the Sheriff Officer Physical Abilities Test (SOPAT) within six minutes
  • Satisfactory psychological assessment based on the Minnesota Multi-phasic Personality Inventory-2 (MMPI-2)
  • Satisfactory criminal records check in accordance with the Government of Saskatchewan Criminal Records Check Policy
