Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Wind Service Technician to join our team at Siemens Gamesa. As a key member of our service team, you will be responsible for performing technical tasks, providing customer support, and ensuring the smooth operation of our wind turbines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform pre-defined technical tasks, including commissioning, integration, and maintenance of wind turbines.
  • Provide remote and on-site customer support, including 2nd and 3rd level user support.
  • Coordinate and accomplish defined service operations, and resolve product issues for customers' equipment.
  • Support the generation of sales leads for pre-defined service offers and contribute to planning activities.
  • Adhere to defined processes and applicable regulations.
  • Relocation may be offered for this role, as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Service and maintenance of wind turbines.
  • Troubleshoot errors on wind turbines.
  • Escalate technical issues to supporting engineering functions.
  • Support other sites across Canada, as needed.
  • Provide excellent service to our customers.
  • Participate in the development of new improved field procedures and best practices.
  • Work in a confined space environment, at an elevated height of ~ 300 feet.
  • Ability to think clearly and maintain composure during stressful and hazardous situations.
  • Extensive training and testing will be provided, covering safety and technical job requirements.
  • Physical requirements of the job include ladder climbing, stair climbing, standing for long periods, walking, lifting, bending, twisting, working above shoulders, pushing, pulling, exposure to vibration, chemicals, confined spaces, and extreme weather conditions.
  • Able to expand technical ability.
  • Capable of efficiently taking on additional roles and responsibilities at an operating wind farm.

Requirements:

  • Driving is an essential function of the job, and applicants must have a valid driver's license at the time of application, with an acceptable driving record.
  • Minimum three years of wind experience, with a Bachelor's Degree, or 3+ years of wind experience with an Associate's or Trade School Degree/Certification.
  • Must be eligible to hold a valid Passport.
  • Physically and mentally able to work suspended from heights and in confined spaces.
  • Flexible travel schedule.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Self-motivated, able to think quickly, and address issues as they arise.
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills and communication skills.
  • Strong ability to organize and plan daily/weekly work with a high level of quality orientation.
  • Good computer skills, competent in the use of Microsoft platforms like Outlook and Excel.
  • Must meet body weight restrictions of 265 pounds or less, as required by safety regulations.
  • Must pass a physical administered by a medical practitioner, to ensure ability to safely perform the job functions and meet the physical demands of the position.
  • Must pass pre-hire background screening.
  • Qualified applicants must be legally authorized for employment in Canada.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in a mechanical, electrical, or industrial field.
  • Certification from a Renewable Energy or Wind Technical Program.
  • Hands-on work experience as a Wind Technician on a Wind Farm.
  • Relevant work experience or demonstrated knowledge, e.g., electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, maintenance/troubleshooting in a military, industrial, or automotive industry.
