Job Title: Lead Pastor

Glen Orchard Community Church (GOCC) is seeking a full-time pastor to lead the ministry of this newly re-established church in Muskoka, in conjunction with its board and congregation. While GOCC is currently independent, we will likely choose to align with a denomination or church for spiritual oversight and leadership support. As such, GOCC is currently in discussions to partner with The Alliance Canada denomination with the intent to become one of its local churches.

Job Overview:

As the Lead Pastor of GOCC, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the spiritual direction of our community. You will provide pastoral leadership, vision, and guidance to our congregation, fostering a culture of growing the Kingdom with compassion, outreach, discipleship, and spiritual growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and oversee all aspects of the church's spiritual life, including organizing and coordinating the various ministries and pastoral care.
  • Build and maintain relationships within the congregation and the local community, fostering a sense of belonging and outreach.
  • Equip and empower members for ministry through discipleship, leadership training, and mentoring.
  • Develop and implement programs that promote spiritual growth, such as Sunday School, Alpha, AWANA, DVBS (summer), small groups, Women/Men groups, etc.
  • Provide compassionate care and support to individuals and families in times of need, including hospital visitation and prayer.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the church, including budgeting, volunteer management, and strategic planning in concert with the board.
  • Collaborate with church leaders and volunteers to achieve our goals and objectives.
  • Serve as a role model of Christian faith and integrity, upholding biblical principles in all areas of life.
  • Possess or seek ordination or licensing as a Christian minister, with a deep commitment to the Christian faith and core doctrines.
  • Have a proven track record of effective pastoral ministry, preferably in a church or ministry setting.
  • Possess leadership qualities, with the ability to develop with the board and implement a compelling vision for the church.
  • Be flexible and adaptable in responding to the changing needs and dynamics of a start-up church environment.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, with theological education or training preferred.
