Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Plumber/Maintenance Worker to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to plumbing, maintenance, and repair of our buildings and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform skilled plumbing work at the journeyman level, including installation, alteration, and repair of plumbing systems, natural gas piping systems, and appliances.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on plumbing, architectural, electrical, and mechanical equipment, including building systems, emergency power, and other related equipment.
  • Review work requests, consult with user departments, and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine materials and equipment required.
  • Prepare for work projects by arranging schedules with user departments and assembling supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Install, troubleshoot, maintain, modify, monitor, inspect, test, repair, and replace pipe and plumbing systems, medical gas systems, natural gas piping systems, appliances, equipment, and accessories.
  • Perform scheduled and demand maintenance on building installations, electrical and mechanical repairs on buildings, equipment, and appliances.
  • Maintain and adjust domestic water systems and related equipment.
  • Construct and repair building fabric, including walls, roofs, doors, and windows, floors, and ceilings.
  • Maintain relative preventative maintenance program inspection reports, records, and documentation.
  • Operate and assure readiness of building emergency systems, including fire alarm systems and emergency stand-by generators.
  • Liaise with consultants and contractors, review drawings and specifications, and ensure that drawings and plans are updated when changes are made.
Qualifications
  • Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Plumber.
  • Class B level Gas Fitter's License with an electrical endorsement recognized by the Province of BC.
  • Valid Certificate of Competency as a Cross Connection Control Specialist issued by the American Water Works Association, British Columbia Section.
  • Two years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
