About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Credit Team Lead to join our team at HomeEquity Bank. As a key member of our Credit department, you will be responsible for leading a team of Underwriters and ensuring that all mortgage applications are underwritten in a timely and accurate manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of Underwriters in the review and approval of mortgage applications
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager, Credit to develop and implement strategies to improve credit risk management
  • Provide coaching and training to Underwriters to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively
  • Review and analyze credit reports and other data to identify potential credit risks
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, including the Senior Manager, Credit and other department heads
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in a related field, such as finance or business
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in credit risk management, with a focus on mortgage lending
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with experience leading a team of Underwriters
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make sound decisions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners
