Job Overview
As the Vice President of Treasury Management, you will oversee Coast Capital's liquidity, funding, capital, and investment portfolio. Your role is crucial in maintaining financial stability, ensuring compliance with regulations, managing risks, and enhancing financial strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the strategic implementation of corporate strategies as a member of the Senior Operating Committee.
- Guide the financial strategy of Coast Capital by directing the treasury function, which includes asset/liability management, interest rate risk management, liquidity management, funding management, capital management, management of the liquidity investment portfolio, management of foreign exchange activities, and setting deposit and mortgage rates.
- Chair the Coast Capital Asset Liability Committee (ALCO) and the Capital and Liquidity Crisis Management Team (CMT), requiring advanced problem-solving skills for complex financial issues within a regulatory framework.
- Represent Coast Capital to external investors, capital markets, and rating agencies.
- Lead and oversee significant company-wide initiatives essential for the future growth of Coast Capital by diversifying sources of capital and liquidity, collaborating with legal and other advisors to execute unprecedented initiatives in Canadian markets.
- Foster relationships with Product, Distribution, and Marketing teams to develop effective pricing strategies and manage a robust balance sheet.
- Collaborate with the risk team to develop and implement models that optimize the balance between profitability and interest rate risk.
- Provide expert advice to the CFO, CRO, and board committees regarding market trends, potential risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Manage and mitigate inherent and potential risks in the business area by working closely with the three lines of defense to create and enforce policies and procedures that ensure risk assurance.
- Direct and enhance funding mechanisms that support growth and contingency planning through institutional and agency deposit channels.
- Promote diversity and inclusion in all treasury functions and initiatives.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Preferred qualifications: CFA, CPA, or dual designations.
- Experience: More than 10 years of relevant experience.
- Expertise: Extensive experience in Treasury functions at the VP level within deposit-taking institutions, encompassing a broad scope and scale.
- Communication Skills: Outstanding public speaking, verbal, written communication, negotiation, and leadership abilities.
- Leadership: A courageous, team-oriented leader who builds trust, fosters strong relationships, promotes collaboration, and mentors future leaders. Committed to creating an inclusive workplace and embracing diverse perspectives.
