Position: Early Years Resource Teacher for At-Risk Students

Role Overview:

The Resource Teacher serves as a leader in promoting inclusion within the educational environment, focusing on the effective implementation of Appropriate Educational Programming.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Planning: Provide research-based leadership and develop strategies that utilize high-impact inclusive practices.
  2. Innovative Teaching: Implement 21st-century teaching methodologies to support all learners.
  3. Intervention Planning: Design and execute successful intervention strategies tailored to individual student needs.
  4. Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional learning at both the school and divisional levels.
  5. Collaboration: Work closely with university initiatives and professional organizations to enhance educational practices.

Student-Centric Planning:

  1. Understand and apply inclusive practices while recognizing the role of classroom teachers.
  2. Be knowledgeable about curriculum outcomes relevant to various grade levels.
  3. Utilize a range of adaptations and understand the adaptation planning process.
  4. Consult, collaborate, and coach fellow educators effectively.
  5. Facilitate case management and intake procedures for students.
  6. Implement differentiation, adaptation, and individualization strategies.
  7. Support the development and execution of Individual Education Plans and related documents.
  8. Engage with families and outside agencies to ensure comprehensive support for students.

Service Coordination:

  1. Co-teach and mentor to achieve specific educational goals.
  2. Work with small groups to provide targeted support.
  3. Develop training and professional development for Educational Assistants.
  4. Support students during transitions across various educational stages.

Assessment Knowledge:

  1. Understand and apply best practices in classroom assessment.
  2. Administer and interpret various assessment tools.
  3. Collect data through observations and assessments.
  4. Adapt academic and behavioral assessments to meet diverse needs.
  5. Utilize assessment information for effective planning.

EAL Programming:

  1. Understand reception protocols and fundamentals of second language acquisition.
  2. Collaborate effectively with EAL educators.
