Position Overview:
Leadership and Oversight of Systems Engineering at Ultra Maritime CanadaThis role involves a collaborative relationship with Engineering teams across various Ultra Maritime divisions in the US, UK, and Australia to ensure alignment of functional processes.
Primary Responsibilities:- Strategically plan, allocate, and oversee Systems Engineers across multiple projects in conjunction with other departments and external partners.
- Identify, develop, and implement process enhancements to meet evolving engineering demands in alignment with the business's strategic objectives and Systems Engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with Chief Engineers, Engineering Managers, and Project Managers to provide the necessary technical infrastructure, including engineering facilities and tools, for the Systems Engineering team across all initiatives.
- Lead the recruitment of Systems Engineers to fulfill the immediate, medium, and long-term needs of projects and the organization.
- Identify, plan, and manage training programs for Systems Engineers to ensure their skills and qualifications meet current and future business requirements.
- Ensure effective performance management, mentoring, and coaching within the Systems Engineering team to foster staff development and retention.
- Develop and maintain succession plans for the Systems Engineering team.
- Support project teams to ensure that delivery milestones are achieved.
- Provide oversight and contribute to Design Reviews, including serving as the Design Review Chair.
- Prepare and evaluate plans and estimates for bids and projects.
- Promote positive behaviors, uphold Ultra Maritime values, and communicate a positive vision of the company to the Systems Engineering team.
Proven experience in leading Systems Engineering teams.
In-depth knowledge of the Systems Engineering lifecycle and formal processes, preferably within the defense sector.
Experience engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, including senior management.
Comprehensive experience throughout the entire project lifecycle, from bids and proposals to in-service support.
Qualifications and Skills:A degree (or equivalent experience) in the Systems Engineering field.
Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
Proficiency in standard office tools and familiarity with engineering tools such as DOORS, UML tools, ERPs, and Configuration Management tools.
