Job Title: Facility Engineering Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Facility Engineering Manager at BlueRock Therapeutics. This is a unique opportunity to work in a controlled laboratory environment and contribute to the success of our organization.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance on facilities and make repairs as needed.
  • Schedule routine inspections and emergency repairs with outside vendors.
  • Maintain day-to-day operations by completing work orders.
  • Monitor Building Management System and emergency response as needed.
  • Respond, evaluate, and document critical equipment alarms using a CMMS.
  • Organize/Track all documentation that is needed in a cGMP environment.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for MEP systems (HVAC, compressed gas, boilers, chillers, fan units, etc.).
  • Conduct daily inspections and ensure the facilities utilities and space are in optimum condition including critical cleanroom infrastructure.
  • Create a high standard of cleanliness across the facility by partnering with internal and external stakeholders (cleaning staff, pest control, etc.).
  • Responsible for the content of all internal facility SOP's and ensuring department compliance with training requirements.
  • Collaborate with team during construction expansion projects.
  • Evaluate, select, and manage relationships with external vendors and contractors for facility-related services and projects.
  • Ensure all facilities and operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards.
  • Prioritize and delegate work orders for team.
  • Successfully collaborate cross-functionally to implement improvements to enhance overall facility functionality.
  • Partner with our LabOps & EHS team to develop and maintain emergency response plans, ensuring staff awareness and readiness for various scenarios.
  • Mentor junior employees as they develop their engineering and facility skills.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability within the laboratory facilities, aligning with corporate environmental goals.
  • Provide on-call support.
Requirements:
  • BSc in Engineering or related life science degree with 11+ years of experience, or 15+ years relevant experience in Biotech/Pharma facilities.
  • Experience in working with mechanical HVAC and building controls.
  • Hands-on experience with maintenance of equipment.
  • Expert in BSL2, cleanrooms, and cGMP spaces.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with keen attention to detail and highly organized.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in adjusting to changing priorities and schedules.
  • Client-focused mindset.
  • Has led high-performing teams.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a team-oriented focus.
  • Experience in working in electronic systems such as CMMS, MS Suite, Smartsheet, OneNote, and document management.
Work Environment:
  • In this position, you will work in a controlled laboratory environment.
  • There is a risk of potential exposure to chemicals and biohazards consistent with somatic cell therapy culture.
  • Working in the laboratory requires mandatory use of personal protective equipment.
  • Team player willing to work in an environment where individual initiative, accountability, and professional maturity are required.
  • Occasional weekend and off-hour work on an as-needed basis may be required.
  • Travel between sites may be required.
