About the Role

We're seeking a skilled Claims Consultant to join our National EBI/Energy Specialty Claims team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and investigate complex large loss claims through various distribution channels.
  • Handle first-party and third-party claims with exposures in Canada and internationally.
  • Collaborate with consultants, adjusters, accountants, and engineers to determine liability and assess damages.
  • Mentor and guide regional file handlers to ensure consistent claims handling.
  • Train colleagues on complex claims handling and provide technical advice.
  • Work with Underwriting and Loss Prevention to identify potential risks and trends.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to brokers, customers, and colleagues.
  • Meet key performance indicators related to loss development, loss adjustment expenses, and expense management.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in direct handling of large and complex commercial property claims, with a minimum of 5 years in equipment breakdown and energy claims.
  • Technical expertise in property claims, with a focus on equipment breakdown and energy.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to negotiate and communicate effectively.
  • Strong collaboration and mentoring skills, with a passion for coaching others.
  • Appropriate knowledge of regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Undergraduate degree or CIP designation (asset).
