Chief Engineer Position

The Working Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operation of various systems within the facility, including heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning equipment, electrical systems, and more visible systems such as elevators, grounds, and lighting.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain and repair heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning equipment
- Ensure the proper functioning of electrical systems, including utility and emergency power
- Oversee the maintenance and operation of elevators, grounds, and lighting systems
- Develop and implement a Preventative Maintenance Program to ensure the optimal functioning of all systems
- Train and develop employees to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties
- Valid Manitoba or Inter-provincial 3rd Class Power Engineer Certificate
- Minimum of 5 years experience in Power Engineering at the current level
- Maintenance and use of fire protection and firefighting equipment
- Acceptable training and experience in the ongoing operation and maintenance of a large facility, preferably healthcare
- Experience in the use of personal computers and various software
- Ability to evaluate necessary management information from a Preventative Maintenance Program
- Ability to train and develop employees
- Ability to communicate well orally and in writing in both official languages
- Ability to understand technical language and manuals
- Demonstrated leadership in fostering an open and respectful work environment
- Demonstrated independent and collaborative decision-making skills
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be in good physical and mental health
- Ability to demonstrate a satisfactory employment record, including attendance
- Current Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable sector and Adult Abuse Registry Check deemed satisfactory by the Employer
- The Power Engineers Acts
- The ability to work within a team in establishing "best practices" within budgetary constraints
- Safe and proper methods of operating/maintaining and repairing structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems in a large facility
This position is designated bilingual (French/English). All staff are hired for the facility. Employees may hold more than one position in different Actionmarguerite facilities, where the sum total of hours does not exceed 1.0 full-time equivalence.
