Executive Director, Engineering

About the Role

Organon LLC is seeking an experienced Executive Director, Engineering to lead our Facilities and Engineering team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to ensure efficient and effective delivery of site services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive facilities and engineering strategy to ensure seamless and efficient workspaces.
  • Lead the Facilities and Engineering team to deliver high-quality services, including utilities, hard and soft services.
  • Manage the total facilities, utilities, reliability, capital and maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) services to ensure compliance, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Oversee the full CAPEX portfolio and ensure alignment with Organon's needs.
  • Develop and implement energy-saving initiatives in collaboration with the Site and Procurement teams.
  • Establish business cases for capital projects and deliver them in close cooperation with Global Engineering Services or external engineering consultants.
  • Develop and maintain FM service levels in agreement with internal clients and Organon policies.
  • Manage the performance of IFM providers, initiate cost-saving measures, and drive continuous improvements.
  • Provide technical guidance on facilities and utilities, including system ownership and contract management.
  • Support and direct the Maintenance and Reliability teams by troubleshooting and consulting externally when necessary.
  • Oversee capital/expense project requests and ensure alignment with site strategy.
  • Lead the completion of small capital/expense projects.
  • Ensure sound engineering stewardship, staffing resource planning, maintenance scheduling, and control.
  • Responsible for the effective operation of MRO and driving a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Lead continuous improvement and report KPIs.
  • Contribute to the recruitment and retention of employees, development and execution of training programs, and performance management activities.
  • Represent the company in external forums, interface with external reliability, utility, engineering, and FM centers of excellence, and share and implement industry best practices.
  • Provide in-house consulting and coaching, supported by cost-effective decisions and recommendations.
  • Serve as an interface between CoE and IPT personnel to ensure effective resource allocation for increasing reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and Organon requirements for quality and EHS, and take appropriate action in case of non-compliance.
  • Participate in regulatory audits and inspections.
  • Sponsor applicable QMS chapters.
  • Coach team members through inclusive behaviors to ensure commitment to safe working.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in a technical area (comparable to Dutch HBO/WO).
  • Minimum of ten years of working experience, with demonstrated knowledge in more than one pharmaceutical and/or chemical manufacturing operation.
  • At least five years of experience in the Pharmaceutical industry or a similar operating environment with significant leadership roles and experience in a front-line supervisory role in operations.
  • Solid project and change management capacities.
  • Structured and strategic thinker.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience at Green Belt level is preferred.
  • Fluent in both English and Dutch, both spoken and written.
  • Good balance between short-term priorities and long-term goals.
  • Experience with management of IFM contracts, technical projects, and reliability.
  • Experience in a complex international environment with a matrix organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership of regulatory and corporate audits (Compliance and Safety).
