Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project specifications, drawings, and documentation to create comprehensive tenders, budgets, and cost estimates for construction projects.
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications to ascertain material and labor costs.
  • Employ estimating software and tools to develop thorough cost breakdowns and proposals.
  • Solicit and assess quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, negotiating terms to secure competitive pricing.
  • Prepare and submit bids and proposals promptly, ensuring all necessary information is included.
  • Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project estimates and suggest mitigation strategies.
  • Generate precise cost estimates and proposals for clients and engage in negotiations as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Surveying, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • At least 10 years of experience in construction estimating, ideally with a principal contractor.
  • Proficient in IT (Microsoft Office, construction estimating software).
  • Strong analytical and mathematical abilities with the capacity to interpret complex plans and specifications.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in preparing estimates and documentation.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, capable of effective collaboration with internal teams, design teams, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, building codes, and contracts (especially the JCT Suite).
