About the Role:

KAPP Infrastructure Inc. is a leading Canadian General Heavy Civil Contractor with 40 years of experience in delivering marquee infrastructure construction projects. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our construction team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Calculate major cost estimates for infrastructure projects
  • Work with KAPP personnel to prepare estimates for planning, organizing, and scheduling project work
  • Manage the estimation team, including pre-qualification and pre-bid submissions
  • Determine the total cost of materials, equipment, utilities, and labor for construction projects
  • Prepare estimates for public and private projects, including quantity takeoffs and written technical proposals
  • Research construction documents and analyze specifications
  • Prepare estimates to meet project goals, including setting work hours, sequencing tasks, obtaining materials, and securing the best deals with vendors and subcontractors
  • Ensure relevant documents and budgets are submitted before a bid deadline
  • Regularly report to management and keep clients updated on project status
  • Formulate contingency plans and effectively manage risks that might impact cost and time estimates
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest estimating technology and industry-related techniques
  • Collaborate with other teams, conduct site visits, and provide other services as required

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering
  • Over 8 years of extensive experience as a Senior Estimator, Chief Estimator, or Estimating Manager in the construction field
  • Experience in heavy civil work, particularly in earthwork, roadwork, bridges, and underground, building, and municipal projects
  • Experience pursuing infrastructure projects from $10-400M
  • Proficiency in HCSS computer programs such as Heavybid or paydirt
  • Exceptional time management, multitasking, and interpersonal skills
  • Brilliant management and negotiation skills
  • Ability to collaborate closely with other project teams and stakeholders
  • Excellent research, proposal writing, and oral presentation skills
  • Extensive knowledge of best industry practices and standards
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Ability to travel and perform site visits
  • Ability to work flexible hours when required
