We are in search of a passionate and skilled Middle School STEM Educator to contribute to our educational community. You will conduct captivating lessons that weave together concepts from science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, equipping our students for future success in STEM disciplines.

This position is designed to provide coverage during a maternity leave.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement lesson plans, outlines, and assessments that utilize inquiry and problem-based learning, engaging students and meeting educational standards.
  • Create integrated STEM lessons that align with the curriculum, emphasizing STEM pedagogy and inquiry-based approaches.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of project-based STEM initiatives.
  • Identify and incorporate new technologies into curriculum and lesson planning.
  • Differentiate lesson plans to cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • Engage in co-curricular activities such as coaching, clubs, and school events.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents regarding the overall program and individual student progress.
  • Integrate principles of diversity, equity, inclusiveness, and belonging into the classroom environment.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere where students feel empowered to take risks.
  • Utilize innovative teaching strategies and technologies to enhance student engagement and learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure alignment of curriculum and assessment practices with best practices in mathematics and computer science education.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and self-reflection to enhance teaching effectiveness and student outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of an Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certificate, with qualifications in Mathematics and/or Science.
  • Junior/Intermediate teaching qualifications.
  • Strong knowledge of the Ontario curriculum in Mathematics and Science, including assessment frameworks.
  • In-depth understanding of STEM content areas, including science, mathematics, technology, and engineering.
  • Experience in Robotics Design and Software Development.
  • Able to ignite interest and enthusiasm for STEM learning among students.
  • Experience with digital and analog tools in a design technology context.
  • Proficient in Google Suite; familiarity with Brightspace is advantageous.
  • Strong pedagogical skills and a commitment to continuous professional growth.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach.
