Key Responsibilities:
- Provide critical thinking and problem-solving skills to prioritize patient needs in emergency situations.
- Act as a patient advocate and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to establish a patient-centered birthing and postpartum experience.
- Work collaboratively with obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to assess, plan, and evaluate individualized care for each mother and family.
- Provide postpartum care and support for new mothers and babies, including newborn assessments and health teaching.
- Develop and implement effective breastfeeding teaching and support strategies.
Requirements:
- Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or currently meet the eligibility criteria to register in good standing.
- Previous intrapartum and postpartum experience required.
- Perinatal Nursing High Risk Obstetrics Program Certificate in progress and/or willingness to enroll and complete within the first year of employment.
- Current NRP and CPR certificates required.
- Current Fetal Health Surveillance certificate a definite asset.
- Lactation Consultant Certification (IBCLC) and/or Registered Nurse with recent breastfeeding knowledge preferred.
- Excellent critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, combined with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks accordingly.
