Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Educator to join our team at the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario. As a key member of our childcare team, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for infants and toddlers to grow and develop.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Design and implement engaging child-care programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Child Care and Supervision: Bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met.
  • Education and Training: Guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits, as well as encouraging creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Engage with children through storytelling, teaching songs, and preparing crafts, while establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers.
  • Health and Safety: Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors, while maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
Requirements
  • Education: Other trades certificate or diploma.
  • Experience: 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related field.
  • Certifications: Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE), Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, and CPR Certificate.
Working Conditions
  • Work Setting: Child care centre.
  • Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week.
  • Physical Demands: Combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling.
