About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Building Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Lordco Auto Parts. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our building systems and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular inspections of the building to identify potential issues and ensure all equipment is in good working order.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural components, and equipment within the building.
- Respond quickly and thoroughly to repair requests, troubleshoot equipment shutdowns, and diagnose issues with equipment to minimize downtime and disruptions.
- Communicate effectively with internal staff and external vendors to perform maintenance & repairs.
- Respond to emergency situations such as power outages, leaks, and system failures.
- Provide immediate corrective action to mitigate damage and ensure safety.
- Assist with spill clean-up within the warehouse and ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs, including a daily log of maintenance tasks.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal staff and external vendors.
- Assist in the planning and execution of building projects and renovations within the building.
- Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and services.
- Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and materials required for maintenance activities.
- Provide assistance & support to other team members as needed for larger projects.
- Order and replenish supplies as necessary to support continuous operations.
- Address and resolve employee complaints and service requests.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years experience with building maintenance or a related field.
- Ability to work flexible shifts.
- Strong technical skills and familiarity with building maintenance tools and equipment.
- Proficient in using a wide range of tools, from hand tools to power tools and specialized equipment.
- Capability to work in various environments, including confined spaces, rooftops, and ladders.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Must be able to lift, move, push, pull or carry up to 50lbs.
- A strong team player, self-motivated, and proactive thinker with a track record of success.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group.
- Certification in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or welding is an asset.
- Experience with framing, drywall, concrete, plumbing, and painting is an asset.
- Knowledge of WorkSafeBC, BC building Code, and BC Fire Code is an asset.
- Fork-truck and scissor lift certification is an asset.
