Position Overview:

The CF-18 Non-Destructive Testing Technician plays a vital role in the In-Service Support (ISS) of the Canadian CF-18 Fighter aircraft Program. This position involves performing critical inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure the safety and reliability of the aircraft.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Document non-conformities in accordance with established protocols.
  • Accurately draft and complete inspection reports and work orders.
  • Possess a minimum of 6 years of experience in aircraft maintenance.
  • Uphold high standards of workmanship and discipline as outlined in CFTOs.
  • Conduct both scheduled and unscheduled NDT inspections, reporting findings to the Supervisor.
  • Perform NDT inspections for non-aircraft purposes as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and provide assistance as needed.
  • Regularly inspect and maintain shop equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, ensuring compliance with radiation safety policies.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the shop, following safety protocols.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical and administrative reports as required.
  • Timely communicate supply needs to the section supply coordinator to maintain stock levels.

Qualifications:

  • College diploma in aeronautics or a related field.
  • Certification from the Canadian Government Specification Board (CGSB).
  • Demonstrated Level II proficiency in various NDT inspection methods, including Liquid Penetrant, Eddy Current, Magnetic Particle, X-Ray, and Ultrasound.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of CF-18 structure and schematics.
  • Familiarity with Canadian Forces aircraft maintenance operations.
  • Ability to interpret CFTOs and other technical documentation related to NDT procedures.
  • Capacity to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting ideas and solutions to peers and supervisors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and adaptability to new software systems.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
