About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health and Substance Use Specialist to join our team at the Vernon Urgent Primary Care Centre. As a Crisis Response Clinician, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team providing direct and indirect mobile crisis intervention and mental health clinical services to individuals with serious mental health problems and/or problematic substance use or withdrawal management issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide crisis response, assessment, suicide intervention, short-term treatment planning, and time-limited case management to clients with serious mental health problems and/or problematic substance use or withdrawal management issues.
  • Function as a primary clinician for short periods of time utilizing a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients, and/or their families.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to clients, including physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community agencies and organizations to ensure seamless care coordination and referrals.

Requirements
  • Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., social work, psychology, nursing).
  • Experience in mental health and substance use counseling, crisis intervention, and case management.
  • Strong knowledge of concurrent disorders and trauma-informed care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions

This is a part-time (0.70 FTE) opportunity with shift times from 09:00 to 21:00 hours. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, providing crisis response and intervention services to clients with complex needs.
