About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Industrial Mechanic/Millwright to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and installation of mechanical systems, including medical air systems, medical vacuum systems, and building heating and cooling circulation systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on mechanical systems, including plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work.
  • Participate in a preventative maintenance program to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Requisition and replenish supplies as needed.
  • Keep equipment clean and in good working order.
  • Report any malfunctioning equipment to the Assistant Manager.
  • Carry out maintenance tasks related to welding, sheet metal, and air balancing.
  • Maintain quality standards of workmanship on all projects.
  • Assist fellow maintenance workers as needed.

Requirements:

  • Industrial Mechanic/Millwright Journeyperson Certification (Red Seal) is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience as an Industrial Mechanic or Millwright.
  • Ability to withstand the physical nature of the job, including standing, bending, kneeling, climbing involving heights, and the lifting and moving of heavy and awkward objects.
  • Ability to operate various motor vehicles, machinery, tools, and equipment related to the work environment.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation.
  • Travel between other sites may be required.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.
