High School Mathematics Educator Needed

Are you passionate about mathematics? Do you enjoy guiding students through the world of numbers and equations?

Oxford Learning Centres, Inc. is looking for part-time educators to join our learning center. This role is ideal for individuals who have a passion for teaching and want to assist students in overcoming their academic challenges while enhancing their cognitive abilities. We focus on fostering a love for learning and teaching students effective study techniques.

Position Overview:

At Oxford Learning Centres, Inc., we aim to improve students' academic performance and study skills in a supportive, small group environment. With a maximum of three students per educator, our high school instructors will guide students through the curriculum and support them with their assignments while imparting essential learning strategies. You will have the freedom to tailor your teaching methods to each student's needs, while adhering to our established educational philosophies (training will be provided).

Your responsibilities will include tracking the concepts taught and cognitive skills addressed, monitoring student progress, and ensuring that the learning pace is appropriate—all during your scheduled hours. You will not be required to prepare lesson plans or create educational materials, as we provide those resources for you.

Classes are conducted during after-school hours, with flexibility in scheduling. We encourage applications from candidates who meet the following criteria:

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Available for at least two evenings per week, starting at 5 PM (4 PM preferred)
  • Comfortable working with diverse learners, including those with ADHD, Autism, and various learning disabilities
  • Willing to commit to the role for an extended period
  • Open to taking initiative and asking questions
  • Reliable transportation for in-person instruction
  • Capable of providing a clear background check

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field (fourth-year university students with tutoring experience may be considered)
  • Ability to effectively teach mathematics and/or science to high school students in grades 9-12
  • Experience in teaching or tutoring high school learners
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
  • Ability to manage multiple students simultaneously
  • Skilled in facilitating students' understanding of various concepts
  • Maintain professionalism and composure at all times

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching certification in Ontario
  • Proficiency in French, both written and spoken
  • Experience in teaching elementary students
