Company: Nova Scotia Power, Department: Smart Meter Operations
As a vital member of the Smart Meter Operations Centre (SMOC) Team, you will collaborate with a proactive group of professionals dedicated to enhancing our infrastructure and delivering innovative solutions. This role is situated within the Customer & Grid Intelligence division of Nova Scotia Power.
Key Responsibilities:
In the capacity of AMI Solution Specialist/Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that smart meter data and AMI functionalities align with business goals. Your contributions will include:
- Identifying, evaluating, and implementing new value propositions through AMI technology.
- Configuring and optimizing AMI systems, including Oracle Meter Data Management and Itron Smart Meters.
- Resolving complex techno-functional challenges in AMI tools and processes by leveraging extensive datasets and analytical skills.
- Supporting a high-performing, data-centric team with daily transaction processing and data integrity management.
- Establishing and nurturing strong collaborations with various business units such as Customer Care, Billing Services, and IT, along with vendors and service providers.
- Sharing expert knowledge with the Smart Meter Operations Centre and related business groups to enhance critical functions like billing and outage management.
- Developing and implementing new procedures while initiating continuous improvement opportunities to boost team efficiency.
- Participating in industry events and working groups to deepen expertise in AMI capabilities and uncover new value opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Computer Science, or Informatics.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in a technical solutions role supporting essential business functions.
- Proficiency in navigating and analyzing large datasets using SQL.
- Experience in project management, including requirements gathering, test planning, and risk management.
- A curious and analytical mindset to facilitate problem-solving and innovation.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing demands.
- Proven customer service capabilities.
- Familiarity with meter technologies and utility operations is advantageous.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI is a plus.
