Job Details:

Key Responsibilities:

The Industrial Relations Specialist will:

  • Offer expert advice and representation on labour relations issues to both the organization and its members.
  • Support members and stewards in navigating federal and provincial legislation, collective agreements, and employment benefits.
  • Assist in resolving formal and informal labour relations matters, including grievances and mediation processes.
  • Participate in various committees and working groups related to labour management.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of relevant legislation and policies to prepare documentation for grievance procedures.
  • Facilitate training sessions aimed at enhancing communication and best practices among stewards.
  • Maintain accurate records of member cases within the Institute's data management systems.
  • Contribute to the Institute's knowledge base by preparing articles and reports on labour relations topics.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Fluency in both official languages (French and English).
  • A deep understanding of employer/employee relations in the federal public service and other relevant jurisdictions.
  • Experience in the labour relations sector, particularly in managing grievances and interpreting collective agreements.
