Corporate/ Litigation Counsel

This is an exciting opportunity for a practical, results-focused lawyer to join the legal department of a growing company in the important real estate development sector, building and operating purpose-built rentals from dirt to door.
In this role, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to build a legal career in an important and growing real-estate space while helping to deliver the housing that Canadians need.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Accurate and Timely Legal Advice
Provide accurate, timely, and practical legal advice to all departments within the organization, ensuring that business operations are conducted in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Manage External Litigation CounselManage external litigation counsel in all areas of litigation, including construction and personal injury, to ensure that the company's interests are protected and that litigation is handled efficiently and effectively.
Draft and Review Litigation DocumentsDraft and review litigation documents, including notices of civil claim and responses to civil claim, to ensure that they are accurate, complete, and compliant with relevant laws and regulations.
Work Closely with the Legal TeamWork closely with other members of the legal team to ensure that legal advice is provided in a timely and effective manner, and that the company's legal needs are met.
Draft Legal Agreements and DocumentsDraft legal agreements and other legal documents, such as contracts and leases, to ensure that they are accurate, complete, and compliant with relevant laws and regulations.
Manage RiskManage risk as a facilitator of business operations, identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them.
Contribute to a Positive Office EnvironmentActively participate in building and maintaining a positive office environment, fostering a culture of respect, inclusivity, and teamwork.
Requirements- LLB/JD or Equivalent
The successful applicant must hold an LLB/JD or equivalent degree from a recognized institution.
Minimum Two Years Post-Call ExperienceThe successful applicant must have a minimum of two years post-call experience, with a strong understanding of corporate and litigation law.
Member in Good Standing of the Law Society of B.C.The successful applicant must be a member in good standing of the Law Society of B.C. or be able to transfer from another provincial law society.
Preference for Experience in Corporate Commercial, Construction, and LitigationPreference will be given to applicants with experience in corporate commercial, construction, and litigation law.
Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving SkillsThe successful applicant must be a critical thinker with a practical approach to problem-solving, able to analyze complex legal issues and develop effective solutions.
Ability to Manage Multiple Work AssignmentsThe successful applicant must be able to manage multiple work assignments and competing priorities under tight timelines, with a high degree of personal initiative and minimal supervision.
Team Player with Strong Communication SkillsThe successful applicant must be a team player with strong communication skills, able to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
