Position Overview: The Microsoft Solutions Architect will spearhead and manage all design and technological choices that influence Microsoft Services technology. This role is essential in ensuring that technology decisions align with the strategic goals of J.D. Irving, Limited.

Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the Director of Microsoft Services and collaborates closely with JDI technologists to facilitate the development and implementation of technology roadmaps throughout their lifecycle. A comprehensive technical understanding of Microsoft Systems, including D365, M365, Copilot, Power Platform, and SharePoint, is crucial for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead assessments of current applications to ensure they fulfill present and future business requirements.
  2. Select application solutions that align with the objectives of the organization.
  3. Ensure that application architecture adheres to enterprise architecture standards and guidelines.
  4. Develop Current State, Transition State, and Future State documentation for application assets.
  5. Contribute to the formulation of enabling strategies.
  6. Provide expertise on application architecture principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  7. Identify and manage metrics necessary for effective application portfolio management.
  8. Guide Instance Strategy decisions for Enterprise Applications.
  9. Collaborate with IT Application owners to define appropriate integration patterns for each application.
  10. Ensure application solutions meet the organization's security requirements.
  11. Lead application cost management by understanding application cost drivers and implementing effective management techniques.
Qualifications:
  1. A University Degree in Computer Science or a Diploma in Technology.
  2. Over 10 years of hands-on technical experience with Microsoft Applications.
  3. TOGAF certification.
  4. ITIL certification.

  1. Strong communicator with excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  2. Organized, analytical, and business-oriented.
  3. Technically adept, process-driven, and naturally curious.
  4. A continuous learner, adept at acquiring new skills and software applications.

Compliance Requirements: All successful candidates must meet the requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
