Position Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced Controller with a strong background in finance and accounting, preferably within a manufacturing context. This detail-oriented and systematic professional will oversee the entire accounting process, ensuring that all operations are conducted efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and enforce policies and procedures based on best accounting practices to ensure effective departmental management.
- Engage in financial planning, including forecasts and budgets, while analyzing variances and outcomes.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the team, ensuring they are informed and motivated, while offering ongoing performance feedback and coaching.
- Collaborate closely with analysts to develop the annual corporate budget and assist managers in its execution and oversight.
- Support operational teams in executing projects that require accounting and informational resources.
- Ensure adherence to the company's accounting standards, internal controls, and administrative protocols.
- Monitor prepaid expenses and accrued liabilities.
- Coordinate the preparation of various tax filings, including GST and QST reports, government remittances, and U.S. tax documents.
- Manage fixed asset accounting and related depreciation.
- Oversee accounts payable, invoicing, and accounts receivable functions.
- Develop and present various value-added monthly analyses.
- Supervise the preparation of the external audit file and serve as a key resource during the annual audit process.
- Verify company accounting and prepare statutory monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Contribute to the development of financial performance indicators (KPIs).
- Act as a representative of the company to both internal and external stakeholders.
Required Skills:
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, including audience presentations and the ability to simplify complex information.
- Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization abilities.
- Excellent analytical and synthesis skills for creating effective management systems.
- Proficient in setting objectives and performance measurement indicators.
- Capability to lead a team and foster collaborative work environments.
Qualifications:
- University degree in accounting or related field.
- Active member of the Order of CPAs of Quebec.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant professional experience.
- Fluency in both English and French, both spoken and written.
- Strong proficiency in accounting software and information technologies.
