About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Academic Engagement Specialist to join our team at Net Zero Atlantic. As an Academic Engagement Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in advancing Atlantic Canada's transition to a low-carbon future.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Public Engagement Strategies: Collaborate with our team to develop and implement best practices for public communications and community engagement in Nova Scotia's clean energy sector.
  • Build and Maintain Relationships: Engage with a wide range of interested parties, including community groups, provincial and federal agencies, educational institutions, funders, and the public.
  • Plan and Organize Public Engagement Activities: Develop and implement plans for public engagement sessions, including community-specific workplans, engagement materials, and evaluation frameworks.
  • Reporting and Communication: Report progress to directors, project participants, funders, and stakeholders, and work closely with the project team on deliverables and finances.
  • Training and Development: Collaborate with the project team to customize training and other development resources required for public engagement and communications activities, in keeping with Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) frameworks.
Requirements
  • Post-Secondary Education: Post-secondary education in business administration, public relations, communications, environmental studies, or a related field from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in planning, organizing, and leading engagement sessions, preferably in the clean energy or non-profit sector.
  • People Management: Experience in people management, including assessing and monitoring training and development needs of a multi-stakeholder team.
  • Relationship Building: Proven track record of building relationships and engaging diverse stakeholders.
  • Language Skills: Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
