Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Academic Guidance Specialist to join our team at Western British Columbia Polytechnic College. As a key member of our student support services, you will play a vital role in helping students achieve their academic and career goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consultation and Counselling: Provide expert guidance and support to students, parents, and teachers on academic and career matters, including course selection, academic program planning, and career development.
  • Program Development and Delivery: Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and deliver academic programs, workshops, and events that promote student success and career readiness.
  • Community Engagement: Establish and maintain relationships with local schools, community agencies, and employers to provide students with opportunities for work experience, internships, and job placement.
  • Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with best practices in academic guidance and career development, and share knowledge and expertise with colleagues to enhance student support services.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as education, counselling, or a related field.
  • Experience: Experience in academic guidance, counselling, or a related field is an asset.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
