We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) team at Fraser Health Authority. As a Registered Nurse in this unit, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to critically ill patients with cardiac conditions.
Key Responsibilities- Assessment and Care Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of patients to identify their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Develop and implement individualized care plans to address these needs and promote optimal patient outcomes.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with the interprofessional care team, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to provide comprehensive patient care. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers to ensure their needs are met and they are informed about their care.
- Clinical Expertise: Demonstrate expertise in cardiac monitoring and telemetry, as well as the ability to interpret arrhythmias and other cardiac rhythms. Provide education to patients and families on cardiac conditions, treatments, and self-care.
- Leadership and Mentorship: Participate in the development and implementation of unit policies and procedures. Mentor and precept new staff members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality patient care.
- Quality Improvement: Contribute to quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes. Participate in research studies and other projects to advance the field of cardiac nursing.
- Education and Experience: Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Completion of Cardiology component of Post Basic Critical Care course, or post basic High Acuity Course, approved Arrhythmia interpretation course plus one (1) year's recent experience in cardiac monitoring or telemetry unit, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Skills and Abilities: Clinical proficiency in the designated clinical area. Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessment (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) and provide nursing care through appropriate/prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety type interventions. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families/care givers, the public, medical staff and members of the interprofessional care team using verbal, written and electronic communication means.
