1What Is the Role?
The Bond & Specialty Insurance (B&SI) division is looking to recruit a Senior Underwriter for our Construction Surety team. This position presents a chance to be part of a successful, collaborative group of underwriters in a prominent and demanding role. As a Senior Underwriter, you will be decisive, detail-oriented, and skilled in building relationships both internally and externally to achieve results. Your expertise in risk assessment and product promotion will play a crucial role in the profitability and success of our organization.Key Responsibilities
Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of a designated portfolio by leveraging a comprehensive understanding of our risk appetite to make informed decisions within your underwriting authority. Assist senior leadership with credit evaluations and underwriting recommendations. Cultivate and sustain relationships with internal stakeholders across the organization to develop sales strategies and identify cross-selling opportunities. Build and maintain relationships with external partners by regularly engaging with brokers to market and advocate for our products. Identify new business prospects through consultative marketing and sales techniques. Collaborate with management to implement regional sales strategies. Monitor your assigned portfolio to detect any declining credit conditions and ensure compliance with established terms and conditions. Perform additional duties as required. Represent our organization at various industry-related events.Ideal Candidate Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in finance or accounting is preferred. Three to five years of experience in surety underwriting or finance/accounting is preferred. Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to proactively identify underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges and analyze relevant information to make timely recommendations aligned with our risk appetite. Excellent financial acumen, including the capability to analyze financial statements and operational histories of clients. Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with broker partners. A customer service orientation to deliver exceptional service. Ability to manage a variety of complex and time-sensitive tasks efficiently.Required Qualifications
A minimum of three years of experience in surety, finance, or accounting, or relevant insurance underwriting experience is required. A valid driver's license is necessary. Occasional travel will be necessary.Benefits
