About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our team at the Toronto Catholic District School Board. As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students who are deaf or hard of hearing have equal access to education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret sign language in a variety of settings, including classrooms, meetings, and events
  • Develop and maintain relationships with students, teachers, and other school staff to ensure effective communication
  • Collaborate with educators to develop and implement strategies to support students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date on best practices in sign language interpretation
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and its application in educational settings
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
