Job Title: Sign Language Interpreter

We are seeking a highly skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our team at the Toronto Catholic District School Board. As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a vital role in ensuring that deaf and hard of hearing students have equal access to education.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide high-quality interpreting services to support the academic and social needs of deaf and hard of hearing students. This includes interpreting in various settings, such as classrooms, meetings, and extracurricular activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide accurate and effective interpreting services to support the academic and social needs of deaf and hard of hearing students.
  • Interpret in various settings, including classrooms, meetings, and extracurricular activities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with students, teachers, and other school staff to ensure effective communication and support.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance interpreting skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with other school staff to develop and implement strategies to support deaf and hard of hearing students.
Requirements:
  • 3-year College Diploma in American Sign Language English Interpreter Program or equivalent.
  • Minimum one (1) year of related experience.
  • Fluent in ASL, English, and manually-coded English.
  • General knowledge of Secondary School curricula.
  • Must be a practicing Roman Catholic verified through a Pastoral reference.
