Tunnel Lead Engineer Job Description

Italferr S.p.A., a leading engineering company in the railway sector, is seeking a highly skilled Tunnel Lead Engineer to join their team for the Pape Tunnel Underground Section project in Toronto, Canada.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, and managing tunnel construction projects, utilizing their expertise in geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, and tunneling technology to create safe, efficient, and cost-effective tunnel solutions.

The key activities of the Tunnel Lead Engineer will include:

  • Soil/structure interaction analyses;
  • Segmental lining design, segmental ring geometry, transient and final service stages, connections devices, gasket design;
  • Ground movements prediction and effects evaluation, achieving improvement or remedial measures;

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or Geotechnical Engineering and at least 10 years' experience in Underground Infrastructures Design, mostly related to TBM tunnels. A Professional Engineer of Ontario (PEO) License or availability to get a temporary license is preferred.

The Tunnel Lead Engineer will be responsible for coordinating team resources, defining the methodology for tunnel design, and attending meetings with the Client and other partners.
