A Typical Day:
- Develop and follow site-specific health and safety plans to minimize risks to yourself, WSP's clients, employees, and the public.
- Identify and document potential and existing site hazards, as well as near-miss and loss incidents.
- Maintain detailed field notes and manage the collection and handling of soil and groundwater samples.
- Conduct fieldwork (e.g., groundwater monitoring, K-test data collection and analysis, soil sampling through test pit excavations or borehole drilling, supervising subcontractors, and drilling investigations) or office tasks under the guidance of experienced scientists and technical staff.
- Oversee subcontractors involved in ground disturbance and utility location, surveying, borehole drilling, and groundwater monitoring well installation.
- Manage remedial contractors, including directing remedial excavations, waste tracking, and progress reporting.
- Prepare and coordinate project documentation, subcontractors, and equipment for field operations.
- Organize and manage all project-related field notes, including data entry and assisting with report preparation.
- Execute and document work tasks efficiently and accurately while adhering to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- A diploma in environmental or geological technology.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Experience in soil and groundwater sampling.
- A willingness to work in the field, including remote locations.
- Strong interpersonal communication and sound judgment skills.
- A solid understanding of health and safety protocols in the workplace and a safety-conscious mindset.
- Effective teamwork abilities.
- A valid driver's license.
