What is the opportunity?

As a Senior Agile Project Leader within RBC's Insurance Technology division, you will spearhead pivotal technology initiatives by leveraging RBC's agile framework, adept stakeholder engagement, and governance proficiency to achieve program objectives. We seek a strategic innovator and dedicated agile project management advocate to assist the leadership team in executing data and digital strategies.

In this dynamic and fast-paced environment, you will bring robust project management skills and extensive Scrum Master expertise, along with effective communication abilities, a strong work ethic, and a proven capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently. This role demands exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities, complemented by a proactive attitude and a commitment to accountability for results.

You will be responsible for the effectiveness of SCRUM teams, guiding them in the adoption of agile practices and policies. This includes mentoring, training, and coaching colleagues on the Scrum framework and applying lean principles.

Your role will involve engaging with stakeholders to quickly grasp business objectives and project concepts, leading the team to successfully deliver incremental value-driven solutions. You will oversee and manage all SCRUM deliverables, ensuring quality and completion, while working autonomously and taking full responsibility for directing efforts and resolving issues promptly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure consistent application of Agile Leadership Capabilities through effective stakeholder management, team leadership, and oversight of internal and external dependencies.
  • Engage in quarterly planning sessions, establish JIRA boards for program increments, manage scrum of scrums, eliminate obstacles, and facilitate sprint ceremonies across multiple teams.
  • Exhibit strong project delivery excellence by maintaining effective governance routines, facilitating meetings, and ensuring clear communication across project deliverables, including financial management and understanding of benefits and outcomes.
  • Utilize effective scheduling and estimating tools to plan and sequence project tasks, milestones, and deliverables in alignment with desired outcomes.
  • Proactively identify, document, and manage risks and issues with clear mitigation strategies.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in SAFe agile delivery and project management.
  • Undergraduate degree with Certified Scrum Master or equivalent certification.
  • Extensive knowledge of SDLC and Agile methodologies.
  • Advanced project management skills, including planning, scheduling, metrics analysis, risk assessment, and financial management.
  • Strong management skills encompassing negotiation, communication, and team collaboration.
  • Proficiency in JIRA and Confluence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Certified Scrum Master and Certified SAFe Practitioner or equivalent.
  • Experience in a matrix organization, such as a large publicly traded company.
  • Exposure to diverse environments (Cloud, distributed systems, mainframe, business workflows, services/APIs, databases).
  • Ability to influence and impact at the Senior Leadership level.
  • Knowledge of the Insurance sector.
  • Proven experience managing projects involving third-party vendors and significant technology components.
