Job Title: Barista (Gerts)

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Barista to join our team at Gerts Cafe. As a Barista, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality beverages and food items to our customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve coffee, tea, and espresso-based beverages to customers.
  • Prepare and serve food items, such as sandwiches, muffins, and cookies.
  • Handle and serve food and drink items in accordance with company standards and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitized work station by washing dishes and cleaning surfaces.
  • Perform tasks such as cleaning tables, sweeping and mopping floors, and restocking coffee counter.
  • Conduct inventory checks and restock supplies.
  • Manage cash and card transactions through a point-of-sale system.
  • Provide excellent customer service and educate guests about our menu offerings.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a barista.
  • Experience using an espresso machine and steaming milk.
  • Experience handling cash and card transactions and using point-of-sale systems.
  • Good knowledge of the McGill community and the Student's Society.
  • Hygiene and food safety certificate from MAPAQ.
  • Service in Action training.
  • Workplace first aid certificate: CPR AED Level C.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and lift heavy objects.
  • Knowledge of and passion for coffee.
  • Friendly, outgoing, and dedicated to excellent customer service.

Additional Information:

  • Paid position: $15.25 per hour.
