The University of Toronto is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Sessional Lecturer within the Faculty of Arts & Science. This position will involve teaching a graduate-level course focused on public policy.
Course Details:
Course Title: Capstone Integrating Seminar: Issues In Public Policy
Course Overview: This course aims to leverage the analytical skills and policy knowledge acquired by students throughout their Master of Public Policy (MPP) program. Participants will engage in the formulation of a comprehensive policy agenda relevant to the contemporary Canadian landscape. The course is inspired by the Canadian Priorities Agenda (CPA) project, which facilitated collaboration among key stakeholders to identify priority areas for policy action. Students will assume the roles of agenda-setters, advocates, and evaluators as they develop and defend a triad of policy proposals for their final assignment.
Estimated Enrollment: Approximately 95 students
Teaching Support: To be announced
Class Schedule: Lectures will be held on Fridays from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM in an in-person format.
Sessional Appointment Dates: The appointment will span from January to April.
Compensation: Salary will be determined based on the lecturer's experience and qualifications, with specific rates outlined in the collective agreement.
Qualifications:
- A graduate degree in public policy or economics is required, with a focus on finance.
- Significant professional experience in policy practice is essential.
- Prior teaching experience at the graduate level is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications: A completed PhD is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Delivering graduate-level instruction and developing course materials.
- Conducting three-hour classes and facilitating bi-weekly group discussions.
- Providing academic support and guidance to students during office hours.
- Preparing and grading assignments and examinations.
- Supervising teaching assistants.
