Job Title: Mechanical Engineering Co-op Student

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering Co-op Student to join our team at Teck Resources Limited. As a Mechanical Engineering Co-op Student, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and gain hands-on experience in the field of mechanical engineering.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with planning, execution, and supply teams to produce an end-to-end warranty process within the mechanical maintenance group.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to determine requirements of the warranty process to gain the greatest return to the business.
  • Work with skilled trades to understand the failure modes of components within the Mine Maintenance department.
  • Project Management; opportunity to assist in coordination of maintenance projects relating to plant, mine and maintenance expansions and modifications; responsible for coordinating, scheduling and monitoring the status of maintenance projects.
  • Monitor project budgets and identify inefficiencies and offer cost-effective solutions.
  • Build and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to help improve the way we do business.
Qualifications:
  • Working towards an Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Comfortable working in a multifaceted industrial work environment with a range of engineering, technical and operational personnel.
  • Willingness to work outdoors and able to operate vehicles at our operations, in various weather conditions and terrain.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to handle numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with a capability to communicate complex ideas to all levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Experience with reliability tools (FMECA, FMEA, RCM, RCA, Pareto Graph, Jack-Knife Diagrams) would be an asset.
  • Able to work efficiently independently as well as part of the team.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn innovative technologies and platforms quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
  • Ability to communicate with precision in a technical environment.
  • Able to articulate sophisticated concepts clearly and in a way a diverse audience would understand.
