Job Title: Shelter Support Worker

The Salvation Army London Centre of Hope is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Shelter Support Worker to join our team. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in providing a positive living environment for our clients, promoting independence and self-help, and ensuring their day-to-day basic needs are met.

About the Role:
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to clients, promoting a sense of community and belonging.
  • Assist clients with daily tasks, such as meal preparation, cleaning, and laundry.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, understanding their unique needs and circumstances.
  • Collaborate with other support staff to ensure a comprehensive and supportive environment.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a two-year College Diploma or University Degree in the field of human and social services.
  • Crisis intervention skills and experience working with diverse populations, including mental health and addictions.
  • Knowledge and sensitivity to social and economic barriers and issues unique to the shelter system.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
