Key Responsibilities
• Oversee the daily underwriting functions of a team specializing in commercial lines within the designated area.
• Underwrite and manage intricate new and existing individually assessed Commercial Property policies.
• Establish and refine underwriting protocols and methodologies.
• Evaluate new and renewal underwriting submissions, providing prompt approvals or necessary adjustments.
• Engage in the formulation of forecasts and projections for strategic planning.
• Assess claims history, loss patterns, and financial expenditures.
• Foster and sustain collaborative relationships both internally and externally.
• Mentor and develop team members through training and coaching.
• Assist in the execution of strategic initiatives.
• Analyze statistical data to assess the effectiveness of current strategies.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of competitive and industry-related information.
• Prepare and scrutinize financial reports related to products on a monthly and quarterly basis.
• Contribute to the creation of analytical tools to enhance the identification of issues and trends.
Candidate Profile
• Bachelor's degree or college diploma with a CIP/FCIP designation.
• Over 8 years of experience in commercial property and casualty underwriting, including a minimum of 2 years in a leadership role.
• CIP certification is advantageous.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
• In-depth product knowledge and comprehensive understanding of insurance policy language.
• Capacity to make informed business decisions.
• Experience in product management with profit and loss accountability.
• Familiarity with financial management practices, insurance risk, and reinsurance principles.
• Strong strategic problem-solving capabilities.
• Proficient in managing multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
• Solid proficiency in software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Bilingual proficiency in written and spoken French and English.
