Science Tutor Job Description

Oxford Learning Brampton Churchville is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Science Tutor to join our team. As a Science Tutor, you will have the opportunity to work with Elementary students in reading, writing, math, and French, as well as with High School students in math, physics, chemistry, biology, and English.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach up to 3 students at a time in Elementary grades or up to 2 students at a time in High School grades
  • Follow the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Complete daily student communication updates and monthly progress reports
  • Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor at all times

Requirements:

  • Availability during after-school and evening hours (3:00pm - 8:00pm)
  • Availability during Saturdays (10:00am - 2:00pm)
  • Mandatory vulnerable sector screening

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science Education or a related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Third-year university students with tutoring experience will be considered
  • Working towards or having a teaching certification is an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Kindergarten to Grade 12 curriculum

Experience:

  • Some experience teaching/tutoring at a Kindergarten to Grade 12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills and ability to guide students' understanding
  • The ability to teach French is also highly desired
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
