Position: Product Planner
Reporting to the Manager of Product Planning, the Product Planner is responsible for the comprehensive management of assigned product lines, encompassing both current product portfolio oversight and the introduction of new products.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy and Planning
- Lead the implementation of the local business strategy throughout all stages of the product life cycle: Development – Launch – Sustain – Phase-out.
- Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to uncover emerging trends, customer demands, and competitive dynamics.
- Gather insights to comprehend customer needs specific to the Canadian market and evaluate opportunities for profitable new product development.
- Collaborate with US product planning teams to integrate local product specifications, features, and performance objectives into strategic plans.
- Oversee the complete product development process, from concept creation to market introduction; regularly present updates internally.
- Work alongside marketing and sales teams to devise go-to-market strategies, promotional content, and training initiatives for new product launches.
- Coordinate with operations teams to ensure readiness for new product introductions.
- Evaluate product performance and market feedback, sharing insights for potential product enhancements, updates, or discontinuation with US teams.
- Assess product line profitability, sales figures, and market share.
- Implement product lifecycle management strategies, including enhancements and end-of-life plans.
- Collaborate with sales and customer support teams to deliver product-related training and initial technical assistance.
- Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, customer support, operations, and US product planning.
- Partner closely with marketing and sales teams to create effective product positioning, messaging, and sales materials.
- Engage with customers, industry associations, and trade shows to gather market insights and maintain a robust understanding of customer needs.
- Facilitate global collaboration efforts to ensure cutting-edge technology and rapid market entry by leveraging common designs.
- Lead initiatives for process improvement within the organization, developing materials for high-level reviews.
- Two-year technical diploma, bachelor's degree in engineering/business, or equivalent experience.
- Extensive knowledge of the HVAC/R sector, including insights into compressor technologies, market trends, and industry regulations.
- Strong communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and clients.
- Robust analytical abilities to interpret market data and customer insights to inform product decisions and outcomes.
- Project management experience is preferred.
- Relevant technical experience in HVAC/R is advantageous.
This position is based in Canada. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and may need to travel to the United States. Some travel within Canada and selected visits to the USA are anticipated.
