About the Role

The Trauma Program at CASA Mental Health is dedicated to providing high-quality, trauma-focused mental health therapies to children, teens, and families. We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Therapist to join our team and contribute to our mission of nurturing connection and safety in the caregiver-child relationship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with the CASA team and external supports to provide trauma-focused mental health therapies to children, teens, and families.
  • Help caregivers with children with exceptional needs build specialized parenting skills.
  • Formulate diagnoses as appropriate, using the DSM-5-TR and other diagnostic tools.
  • Provide clinical input to Therapy Support Navigators providing case management and wrap-around care for patients and families.
  • Conduct case management functions, including convening case conferences and liaising with CASA therapists and psychiatrists, community services, and other professionals involved with the child and family.
  • Coordinate consultation to other therapists or external partners as appropriate.
  • Provide supervision or preceptorship for student placements.
  • Contribute to staff knowledge and understanding of discipline-specific issues.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in psychology, social work (with psycho-social intervention designation), or occupational therapy.
  • Current registration in good standing with a professional college identified under the Health Professions Act.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.
  • Demonstrated ability to practice culturally-safe therapeutic interventions.
  • Knowledge of and experience in supporting the healing of children and youth who have experienced trauma.
  • Knowledge of and experience in bottom-up and top-down modalities is an asset.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Conditions of Employment
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check.
  • Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA), as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
