About the Role

Watercare Services Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nerve Centre Manager to oversee the efficient operation of our Nerve Centre. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth coordination and communication among various departments, and managing resources to optimize performance and response times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Direction: Provide leadership and direction to the nerve centre, faults & customer Liaison teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Standard Operating Procedures: Establish and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for comms, faults and nerve centre operations, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
  • Real-Time Management: Monitor and manage the city's water treatment plants, wastewater systems, reservoirs, and pipelines, ensuring there are no disruptions in supply or treatment.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact.
  • Incident Response: Lead incident response efforts during emergencies or crises, coordinating with relevant stakeholders and implementing contingency plans as necessary.
  • Performance Evaluation: Evaluate performance metrics and KPIs to identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Training and Exercises: Facilitate regular training and exercises to test capabilities and enhance staff readiness for emergencies.
Requirements
  • Education: An equivalent tertiary degree in a relevant field such as emergency management, business administration, or information technology.
  • Experience: Proven experience in a leadership or management role, preferably in a nerve centre or similar operational environment.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of nerve centre operations, SCADA, including incident management, resource allocation, and communication protocols.
  • Computer Skills: Experience in using computerized database systems.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Crisis Management: Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure during emergencies or critical incidents.
